Artist statement

Through my paintings, I explore the loneliness one can feel even in crowded places, the melancholy of the last cigarette of the night, and the sense of freedom that emerges when the city slows down and we are left alone with our thoughts. In bars lit by amber lights, among abandoned glasses and distant glances, I try to capture suspended moments, where people share the same space while remaining immersed in their own inner worlds. I am fascinated by the fleeting beauty of everyday life: moments destined to vanish, yet which precisely in their impermanence become worthy of being remembered. All this is framed by a decadent aesthetic inspired by the early twentieth-century Parisian school.

"il violinista"

"il violinista"

Oil on canvas · 2026 · 40×60

The suspended moment before an important event, when concentration and fear intertwine before giving way to action. The violinist tunes his instrument moments before the concert, gathering himself in a moment of vulnerability. It is the moment in which he must find the confidence necessary to present himself to the audience, transforming uncertainty into a decisive gesture.

"concerto per uno"

"concerto per uno"

This painting is a reinterpretation of a work by Modigliani. I believe that drawing inspiration from the great masters is a way to develop a personal pictorial language. The work fits into a theme I've been exploring lately: nocturnal melancholy. The cellist is presumably performing before an audience, yet he is depicted alone, with his eyes closed, as if playing exclusively for himself, immersed in his own inner world.

The frenzy of modern life calms in the evening, when we enter our usual bar, surrounded by the same familiar faces exchanging the same words. My current artistic research finds a perfect expression in this painting: the melancholy hidden within each of us when, at the end of the day, we remove the masks behind which we have hidden our souls.

"Cesare Borgia"

"Cesare Borgia"

Oil on canvas · 2026 · 60×80

Off-topic with respect to my artistic research. Cesare Borgia was a military leader and prince of the Italian Renaissance, son of Pope Alexander VI. The portrait echoes some aspects of typical Renaissance and institutional portraits, such as the pose and austere gaze. As a model, I found a dear friend of mine with whom I share this passion for history.
