“To have lived a long time and still have time to live”
Daniele Guidi
About the artist

Daniele Guidi was born in Florence in 1962, and at the age of 30, he decided to enroll in evening classes at the Florence Art School. This courageous gesture, made just days after his wedding, led him to make a change in his professional life in the following years. In the late 1990s, he opened a graphic design studio in Prato, where he also worked as a painter. To adequately stock his refrigerator, he decided that graphic design might be more profitable. He therefore relegated painting to the corner of his mind, despite a few sporadic sales and the appreciation of many. But beneath the ashes, the fire continues to smolder. A fire waiting only for the right moment to flare up. And that moment arrives in 2024, when an astral combination, combined with a deep desire to make a change in his artistic career, releases the energy accumulated over time. This energy transformed into a new lease on life for his artistic career. Drawing on his experiences walking in nature, he resumed the path he'd interrupted years earlier and began creating abstract and meditative visions for people seeking calm and reflection in their own environments. From this awareness, a new approach was born, leading him to engage with the art market in an "entrepreneurial" way. The first awards and sales arrived. He didn't completely abandon his design work, but integrated it with his vision of art: not only a means of self-expression and communication, but also a proactive and responsible way to meet the financial burden. He began to put himself forward and emerge from his "shell." He experimented, produced, sold, fell, and got back up. He gained experience in the art world, which he threw himself into headfirst. Thanks to his initial contacts, he organized his first independent exhibition outside the gallery circuit. The exhibition was a success, selling 5 of the 20 works. Not bad for an absolute debut. He could have sold more, but it served to gain experience. The policy of doing became his mantra: "Done is better than perfect." Like a modern-day Barry Lyndon, he decided he would never again step down from the rank of artist. This led him to continue with great commitment to creating (and selling) his works, integrating this activity with that of his graphic design studio.

Artist statement

My artistic practice is rooted in walking through nature as a practice of observation, presence, and inner transformation. It is through walking that moments of clarity begin to emerge moments that gradually reshape the way I perceive myself and the world around me. As the noise fades, my attention slows, and a different way of seeing begins to unfold. I call this process Paintfulness. It is not a painting technique, but a visual language that translates what walking leaves behind into color, texture, and memory. Working with acrylic, plaster, and gesso, I build each painting through successive layers, abrasions, and removals. I do not depict specific places, but the traces left by time, movement, and memory. Every layer preserves the presence of the one beneath it, much like memory itself. Painting does not represent the experience, it continues it. My work is created with the intention of extending that experience beyond the trail, allowing the same sense of presence, stillness, and transformation to inhabit the everyday spaces of those who live with it.

CERCASI TITOLO DISPERATAMENTE

Multi-material acrylic on canvas · 2024 · 120 x 100

This work represents a leap into distant memories, where I rediscovered marine elements and submerged seabeds. A true "dive" into the layers of memory from which they originate. I also wanted to experiment with new combinations of materials, such as concrete and marble dust, which allowed me to explore new textures and chromatic resonances. The use of these unconventional materials allowed me to explore the depths of emotional states in a more decisive and informal way. This painting aims to be a window into the depths of the soul and bring transformative and inspiring energy into your spaces.

DALLA FINESTRA UN ALTERNO BRUSIO

DALLA FINESTRA UN ALTERNO BRUSIO

Acrylic, Collage on Canvas · 2024 · 70 - 80 cm.

This work represents the contrasts and dissonances of urban life, which I perceive from my window during my days working remotely. Through the intense use of complementary, warm and cool tones like orange and blue, I wanted to recreate these sensory images in a new chromatic energy. The work highlights a temporal and seasonal progression, representing my journey through the desire to resume my artistic activity, which I have put aside for too long. The aim is also to inspire and accompany all those who, with great commitment, wish to achieve profound change in their daily lives. That's why I've defined this work of mine as "Inspirational and Impactful."

PAINTFULNESS

PAINTFULNESS

Acrilico su Tela · 2025 · 60 x 60 cm.

This work marks a crucial stage in my journey. It represents the moment when I began to recognize in painting not the need to reproduce what I see, but the desire to give form to what remains within me after having experienced it. This work represents a meeting point between the practice of mindfulness, the experience of walking, and the search for a pictorial language capable of expressing what goes beyond visual representation. My excursions are an essential part of this research. I paint not the landscapes I pass through, but what remains within us at the end of the journey: sensations, emotions, traces, and impressions that continue to live in our memory, even when the places are now far away. In Paintfulness, these experiences take shape through layers of material, signs, and color. Warm, earthy tones intertwine with cooler, deeper nuances, while the worn surfaces, overlays, and traces of gesture evoke the sedimentation of lived experiences. The "Before," the "After," and the "During" (understood as the present moment of awareness) follow one another in the pictorial planes into which the painting is divided. A space where the creative process becomes a space of presence, exploration, and freedom of expression.

A LITTLE BIT OF BLUE AND A LITTLE OF BLUES

A LITTLE BIT OF BLUE AND A LITTLE OF BLUES

Acrylic, Plaster, Stucco on Canvas · 2025 · 80x90 cm.

In this work, I favor the color blue to achieve a more introspective and profound effect, as befits blues music. In addition to acrylic, I also used a base of gesso and stucco to create a light texture consistent with the rest of the painting. The vibrant blue touches and earthy red tones blend together, creating a visual dialogue between tranquility and introspection, between light and darkness. Bringing this work into your home or workspace means recreating a flow of energy that conveys a message of calm and connection between people.

GIOIE E COLORI

Acrylic, Gesso and Stucco on Canvas · 2025 · 80 x 90 cm.

Imagination is the cheapest tool to illuminate the darkness. In this painting from the "Paintfulness" series, memories return from the past, blending into the material and colors, because the brain cannot distinguish a real event from a purely imagined one. An imaginary world where the spatial surface of the canvas transforms into a temporal surface, where past and future are suspended on the line of the present, between reality and imagination.

ODDIO! L'ESTATE...

ODDIO! L'ESTATE...

Acrilico su tela · 2025 · 50 X 100 CM.

Enter the heart of summer with "Oh My God... Summer!" A work that radiates the energy and joy of this season, which I experience with contrasting emotions. The interplay of electric blues, burnt oranges, deep purples, and earthy accents generates a suspended tension, typical of the language of Paintfulness, where the surface is not just space but also an emotional present, a place of inner listening. The texture of the brushstrokes is not merely decorative: it invites you to follow the movement and spontaneity that inspired the work, making each observation a new discovery. Imagine this work in your home: it becomes a daily reminder of warmth, optimism, and the beauty of living in the moment. Whether you want to energize a space or create a focal point that sparks conversation, this piece brings a unique vivacity, both inspiring and deeply personal.

CROMANTICISMO

CROMANTICISMO

Acrilico su tela · 2025 · 80 X 50 cm.

This work also gives the title to my BOW "Cromanticism." It arises from a state of calm and present concentration, which are the foundation of Paintfulness. Cromanticism evokes the color of 19th-century Romantic painting and its ability to transport us to a state of reflective calm, between abstraction and sentiment. The colors follow the sensations of the moment, where warm, soft hues intertwine with material textures to evoke an emotional temporal space, suspended between color, stillness, romance, and abstraction.

RITORNO AL PRESENTE

RITORNO AL PRESENTE

Acrilico su Tela · 2025 · 80 x 60 cm.

In this painting, I invite the viewer to enter a personal vision of this memory, inspired by a recent trip to Tuscia, an enchanting region between Rome and Tuscany. I wanted to convey the evocative light and color of this journey through the layering of painting techniques, ranging from textured to spatula-like, to the final sponging. As in other Paintfulness works, every detail is aimed at contemplation and awareness of the present, suspended between past and future, reality and fantasy. The work is available for sale and represents a unique opportunity to enrich your home or professional spaces with a touch of meditative Italian charm.

Biography

1962 Florence - Lives and works in Prato

I approached the visual arts in 1992, after a career spanning photography and music. That year, I finally pursued a long-dormant passion: painting and art history. From this journey, which I pursued amidst countless difficulties, torn as I was between work, my new family, and attending courses, my new professional path emerged. A path that led me to open my own graphic design studio in 1999 and simultaneously continue my experimentation in the field of art. In 2024, I decided to venture into the world of art, and the results were not long in coming. After my first sales, I devoted more and more time to art, so much so that it became the other side of the coin of my creative profession.
